Toasted Sandwich Recipes

CHEESE

Cheese and Pepperoni
Make up the sandwich with your choice of cheese, and put slices of pepperoni or salami on top. Season to taste.

Cheese & Strawberries!
Arrange grated mild chedder on the bread, top with thinly sliced strawberries and a few grinds of fresh black pepper.

Apple, Cheese & Horseradish
Mix sliced apple and grated cheese, spread over one slice of bread and spread a little horseradish over.

Cheese & Beans – An old favorite
Mash 2 tablespoons baked beans spread over the bread adding some strong cheddar or a little Stilton.

Curried Beans
Mash 2 tablespoons baked beans with 1 teaspoon of curry paste, spread on the bread and top with some mango chutney.  Use either a Korma for mild curry flavor up to a vindaloo, fantastic after a night out.

Cheese & Worcester Sauce
Mix finely diced tomato and onion with grated cheese, spread over the bread, shake over some Worcester sauce.

Ham & Pineapple
Finely chop some ham, pineapple and cheese, mix together and spread over the bread YUMMY

Stilton
Stilton -The king of cheeses makes a great toasted sandwich all by itself.  Add nothing!

Danish Blue & Beetroot
Spread a thin layer of creamed horseradish on two slices of bread, put some crumbled Danish blue cheese on one slice and top with shredded beetroot.

Mushroom and Tomato
Spread the sandwich with your choice of sauce or mustard. Slice mushrooms and tomatoes, layer onto the sandwich and toast

Philadelphia and Pineapple
Spread cheese on to each side of the bread. Cut up some pineapple rings. Place on the cheese. Season to taste.

Cottage Cheese and Cucumber
Spread the cottage cheese on each side of the bread. Thinly slice the cucumber.

Cheese, Banana & Apple
Mix diced tomato, banana and apple with some grated cheese, Stilton with apricots is fantastic but it's also good with Brie.


OTHER

Aubergine, Tomato & Parmesan
Thinly slice an aubergine and spread with salt to remove the bitter juices, after 20 minutes rinse and dry the aubergine slices then allow them to colour in a dry frying pan. Spread garlic butter onto the bread add aubergines and some chopped tomato and a good dusting of Parmesan.

Tuna Mayonnaise
Take a can of tinned tuna. Drain brine or oil. Empty into small bowl and mix up with 2 or 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise or salad cream, some tinned sweetcorn (chopped onion or peppers may also be added). Salt and pepper to taste. Mix up well and spread on to a piece of bread.

Smoked Salmon
Smoked salmon is no longer an expensive luxury.
Layer the salmon on the bread. Squeeze on a little lemon juice and black pepper, cayenne or paprika if you have it is an option. Another option would be to spread a cream cheese such as Philadelphia on the smoked salmon.

Corned Beef with Onion and Tomato
Mix some cubed corned beef, chopped onion and chopped tomato, place on the bread and toast.  For something different try adding garlic butter or some chilli flakes.

Curried Egg
Boil 1 egg per portion, peel and chop finely, add a tsp of curry sauce, spread on bread, pop in the bag and enjoy.  You could also add chopped onion, chopped tomato, grapes or apple slices.

Curried Chicken

Finely chop some cooked chicken breast and mix with a curried mayonnaise, spread over some granary bread with some sliced apricots.

Bacon, Lettuce and tomato
A very popular cold sandwich or baguette.
Cook the bacon first in the toastabag. Slice a tomato. Take an iceberg lettuce, break off the leaves and lay it on the bread, spread some mayonnaise or salad cream to taste, add the bacon and the slices of tomato. Salt and pepper. Make the sandwich, toast and enjoy!

Bacon and Mushroom
Thinly slice some mushrooms. Place in the toastabag with bacon and cook. Arrange on the bread.  Add tomato, brown sauce or mustard to taste. 

Toasted steak sandwich
Use thinly sliced steak, type depending on your taste/budget. Thinly slice an onion if desired and cook in the toastabag. Place between the bread adding mustard or horseradish if desired.

Marmite & Onion
Spread marmite on one slice of bread add finely sliced onions.

Garlic Toast
Take a Tablespoon of butter and mix it with garlic paste or crushed garlic. Spread on both sides of a slice of bread and toast in the bag.


SWEET

Peanut butter and Jam
An American classic. Spread peanut butter on one side of a slice of I bread, then spread the jam thickly on one side of the other slice, sandwich together spread sides, put in bag and cook. If you want to be really naughty add some marshmallows!!

Banana and Honey
Spread honey onto one side of both slices of bread. Slice a banana into 3-5mm discs. Place on the bread.   Try this with apple slices for a change.

Apple and Jam
With a sharp knife core and slice an apple into rings 2-3 mm.  Evenly spread the slices in the toastabag and cook.  Spread the jam onto one slice of bread, place on cooked apple slices and sandwich.

Spiced Apple and raisin
Spoon some mincemeat from a jar and spread on bread, sandwich, and butter both the outside slices. Bag and cook.

Chocolate and Raisin
Butter one side of each slice of bread. Spread Chocolate Spread thickly on the unbuttered sides of the bread, sprinkle raisins as desired onto the chocolate spread. Sandwich the chocolate sides together and cook in the bag.

Banana & Demerara Sugar
Prepare bread by buttering lightly, spread with mashed banana and a teaspoon of Demerara sugar.

Banana, Apple & Cinnamon
For a sweet alternative mix chopped banana, apple, grapes cut in halves, sprinkle with cinnamon and a little whipped cream toast and serve.

Rice Pudding & Jam
Mix some cooked rice pudding, spread on toast almost to the edge then dribble on some fruit compote or jam.

Pineapple, Cherries & Chocolate
Mix chopped pineapple, cherries, without stones, and top with grated chocolate then toast.

Chocolate Spread & Peaches
Spread chocolate spread on bread then top with sliced peaches and a pinch of ginger, seal and toast.
